I am super excited that I finally decided to start my blog!!!
So about 9 months ago I started the process on looking into weight loss surgery. My Doctor suggested it and well I was open for the idea. I personally know people that have had amazing results with it.
In all reality this journey started in 2012 when my weight started to hinder my health. Slowly I started changing my lifestyle. I have lost weight but not as much as I would have wanted to. Fast forward to Dec 2014 when my employer announced that we would be getting health insurance!! I immediately searched to see if it was covered, when I was told yes at that moment I knew it was time. Of coarse with all the insurance process it took a few months for me to actually get to see a Dr in my network. In March I started the official process...3 months of supervised diet/weight loss options. During this time Dr would prescribe me different weight loss pills, suggest new diets and encourage me to work out. I also search for a surgeon that took my insurance.
I completed the 3 month process at the end of May. Due to a few trips I had previously scheduled I had to hold off on moving forward. Finally summer was coming to an end and no more trips in the near future. Spoke to the surgeon Dr. Atkinson, and scheduled my surgery. Originally it was scheduled for Sept 28th, 2015 but last week I received a call asking if I wanted to move it to Sept 23rd and I said YES!!
So that brings me to today Sept 4th, 2015....
There's so much going on in my mind right now. After the amount of research I have done, the endless success stories I have read, I have come to the conclusion that I AM READY!!!
I have so many questions...
There's not many blogs about this (one reason why I decided to start this one, for YOU!).
Some places talk about a special pre-op diet, others talk about a complete fasting for a few days prior, and then there's my Dr. that said "no need for any of that!". So that's confusing, I think the pre-opp diet might not be such a bad idea, grant it the complete fasting thing might be a bit too much. So I think I will start a week prior to my surgery. I would love to know if you guys have any input on this...
Secondly the recovery, again due to lack of blogs there's not much info on this. I'm curious on what to expect in regards to pain/discomfort, etc. ( I will be sure to blog about my personal experience!)
Thirdly...complications...I would like to think that the lack of info on this means there is zero to none but again there isn't much info on any of it in general. I would particularly appreciate any info on this topic.
Regardless of the above I have prayed and asked God to make this as easy as possible for me if this is really something he wants me to do and well so far, it couldn't have been easier!! So the countdown has begun 18 days and counting...
